You’ve seen Luminol on TV. Luminol is often used in the visualization of blood. It is highly sensitive and can usually locate faint blood that is invisible to the eye.
One vial contains about 15 grams of powdered luminol that, when mixed with water, makes 8 ounces of luminol.
How to Use
Inside a small spray bottle add a vial of Luminol to eight ounces of water and mix. When sprayed on surfaces where blood is evident, the luminol will make the blood patterns appear a bright green.
User Note: This powdered luminol is used by old school detectives and in chemistry. New varieties of luminol glow brighter and longer.
We offer three types of luminol. Each is suited for either detectives, students or novices.
- Novices should use our Bluestar Training luminol tablets. Bluestar glows brighter and lasts longer.
- Students will find our inexpensive luminol experiment pack useful. It contains directions and an experiment.
- Investigators should try our Professional Bluestar Forensic.
Would you like blood with that? Shop our store for our synthetic blood, which allows you to safely conduct experiments with luminol and more. Contains no biological ingredients.
Luminol is caustic and should be handled by adults using respiratory and eye protective gear. Protective gear not included.

I purchased this product and was a little skeptical as to whether or not it was the real thing. But I used it at my mother-in-law’s house, where there was an actual murder *before she lived there!!* and we found trace amounts of blood on the CEILING! It was awesome and renewed my passion for forensics and was so awesome! This really works and is fabulous!

I bought luminol just to see if it was the real deal. As soon as I saw the chemical information/safety info, I knew it was real, but what would it reveal?? I sprayed luminol over my kitchen floor and I saw quite a sizeable mark on the floor, which had been cleaned up (obviously). There were also smaller traces, which I assumed to be spatter of some kind. I managed to sort of decide which direction the spatter came from. I have always been told that a small child, a girl, was killed in my house years ago. I tend to believe the story now because I have seen evidence. I knew it was not bleach or anything other than blood because of the pattern and bleach cleaning the floor would have caused a more uniform ‘revelation’. In other words, the whole floor would have glowed!!
