This fluorescent latent print kit is an efficient kit for the field technician to use at a crime scene to develop prints on difficult surfaces.
To use:
- Apply the fluorescent powder using the magnetic wand or feather duster.
- Darken the room.
- Illuminate the dusted area with the supplied UV light.
- Fingerprints become visible when viewed with orange viewing goggles (sold separately).
Unlike traditional powder printing, fluorescent prints are primarily collected by photographing them. Fingerprint cards and fingerprint tape are included in your kit to store your prints after photographing.
The kit includes:
- 1 UV light in the 400nm range
- 1 regular fluorescent powder, 2 oz. ORÂ 1 magnetic fluorescent powder, 1 oz.
- 1 white feather duster OR 1 magnetic applicator wand
- 1 USB thumb drive containing FBI Fingerprinting Manual (PC/Mac PDF file format)
- 1 set of fingerprint backing cards (50 sheets)
- 1 roll lifting tape, 1-1/2 inches x 360 inches
NOTE: You will receive a magnetic applicator wand if you select a magnetic powder or a feather duster if you select regular powder.
Select the best fluorescent powder color for your needs
- Red fluorescent powder — best for most surfaces.
- Green fluorescent powder — especially sensitive to ultraviolet light sources and works on most surfaces.
- Yellow fluorescent powder — provides additional flexibility for removing background interference from difficult surfaces.

- Untreated metal: steel, stainless steel, iron
- Wax or waxed surfaces
- Smooth surfaces: glass, paint, varnish
- Textured surfaces: painted rough lumber, textured or brushed metal
Use magnetic powder on these surfaces:
- Plastic films and bags
- Paper and cardboard
- Textured surfaces: painted rough lumber, textured or brushed metal
- Raw wood
