This GSR test gives an immediate color reaction showing a presumptive presence of lead. Use it at the edge of a hole to determine if it is the pathway of a bullet by the presence of lead. This may also be used to swab hands and other areas.
Educational users will appreciate that the test comes with a paper that is embedded with a substance that will cause the test to react positively. No need for actual GSR. Just swab the paper and place in the tester to get a positive result. The tests are sold individually and include directions
Directions
- Sample the stain by rubbing with a cotton-tipped swab.
- Remove cap from the vial.
- While holding the swab head inside the vial, break off the excess applicator allowing the cotton tip to fall to the bottom of the vial. Replace the cap.
- Break the glass vial by squeezing between the thumb and forefinger.
- Allow the swab to become wetted by the liquid. Wait 10-20 seconds.
- A red-purple color reaction is a positive reaction to presumptively identify lead.
