Forenstix Gunshot Residue Test for Lead

This GSR test gives an immediate color reaction showing a presumptive presence of lead.  Use it at the edge of a hole to determine if it is the pathway of a bullet by the presence of lead. This may also be used to swab hands and other areas.

Educational users will appreciate that the test comes with a paper that is embedded with a substance that will cause the test to react positively. No need for actual GSR. Just swab the paper and place in the tester to get a positive result. The tests are sold individually and include directions

Directions

1. Sample the stain by rubbing with a cotton-tipped swab.
2. Remove cap from the vial.
3. While holding the swab head inside the vial, break off the excess applicator allowing the cotton tip to fall to the bottom of the vial. Replace the cap.
4. Break the glass vial by squeezing between the thumb and forefinger.
5. Allow the swab to become wetted by the liquid. Wait 10-20 seconds.
6. A red-purple color reaction is a positive reaction to presumptively identify lead.
