The FBI Identity History Summary, also referred to as a “rap sheet:’ is a listing of detailed information derived from fingerprint submissions kept by the FBI. The information is related to arrests, and in some instances, the information is related to federal employment, naturalization, or military service.
The FBI maintains a database of fingerprint submissions from law enforcement agencies across the country. When an individual is arrested, their fingerprints are submitted to the FBI and added to the database. The FBI then uses this database to create Identity History Summaries.
Identity History Summaries include: Fingerprints, Arrest information, including the date of arrest, the charge, and the disposition of the arrest and Information about federal employment, naturalization, or military service.
